"THE WHOLE CREW IS HYPED" VANS THE CIRCLE 2022 WINNERS - LUX BMX

DIG: The results are in and Australia’s LUX BMX have deservedly taken the win - congrats guys! Not only did you win Vans ‘The Circle 2022 but your boy Raph Jeroma-Williams also took home the MVP award. How are you all guys feeling right now?

WTF! We got up early this morning to watch the live stream all hyped as ever on BMX! I think we are all super proud of what we just achieved for LUX, and the vibes are high!

Personally I really wanted to create an amazing video, I wanted to do this for Mitch and Ev, I felt I owed them this, they have worked so hard to get LUX to where its at and for them to give me my dream job, this project has basically all I’ve thought about the past two months and to see it all work out, I AM F*CKING HYPED! THE WHOLE CREW IS HYPED and in a way I feel this project has really brought a tight crew more then ever with the LUX Team.

DIG: What were your thoughts after watching the other videos? Did you have any favorites?

The videos this year were WILD! Ride On in Greece and the Soul cycle store in the Netherlands absolutely killed it, also really liked Shreds video. Everyone killed it.

DIG: What are the most important elements in making a BMX video? What do you focus on the most?

That’s a tricky one, for me personally I feel I concentrate on the filming a lot, I always try to look for the song first so I have a idea of what I’m trying to create, that’s basically where I start. I think I kinda have a fast sort of style with filming and editing so I’m always looking for fast hype songs that matches my filming style I think haha

DIG: Did you encounter any problems during filming?

To be honest nothing went wrong at all. I honestly was prepared to get arrested for that tunnel clip with the rail in the middle of it. That spot has been a myth for years to me and we were like f*ck it lets hit it for this, full break and enter vibes but some how we got in and out with out getting caught, other then those thoughts everything went smoothly.

DIG: What’s the story behind the music in your video? It was such an awesome approach to a soundtrack.

Shout out to Life On Earth! So basically Mitch told me about this band and we all went and watched them one night, everything they do is improv and they did a song about Big Salad and all these other words people yelled out. I left that show really vibing there music and there crew. It wasn’t to I was at work and I thought what about we get this band to do the Vans Circle track with a live recording. So next show they had, Mitch and I went to it and after they played we went up to them and told them about the Vans The Circle and would they be down to do this. I don’t really think they knew what it was all about, but they were so down. Our budget we got to make this project went straight to the band and making the song. It was such a magic night they did a whole private show for us while we filmed here and there and the best thing about it was, I remember one of the guys after asking me "do you think you got everything you need" and I felt I did but I just said what about one more track but really fast and go for it, and that’s when that song was made on the buzzer and it was perfect. A massive thanks to LIFE ON EARTH. This is why we won I feel and we can’t wait for your next show!

DIG: Why do you think the Australian scene has such a massive influence worldwide?

I'm not sure what’s in the water down here but for some reason we just seem to be good at BMX.

DIG: What can you tell people about the MVP winner Raph Jeroma-Williams? What’s he likely to do with his €500?

"Raph is one of the realest you’ll ever meet. He really rides BMX for all the right reasons, he wouldn’t care less if he won this award, he’d just be stoked to be out riding with his mates, which is exactly why he deserves to win the award. You won’t meet a single rider in Australia that has a bad word to say about Raph. He’ll probably buy some beers and plants with the cash, and he’ll definitely share those with his mates." - Mikey (Raph's childhood best friend)

DIG: Speaking of which, what will you guys do with that hefty €10K you’ve just won and how will you celebrate?

We just split it with everyone. Everyone put in work for this and with the bit of change we will be using to get another camera for Lux to keep this all going.Since it was 6am in Australia when we found out we haven’t really hit the pub yet. I might go get a cocktail tonight but yeah we are all working right now haha.
