13 Oct 2022

Conheça a equipa: PEOPLE'S STORE - COLÓNIA, ALEMANHA

«Há todo o tipo de ciclistas na nossa comunidade e é isso que a torna tão especial»

Meet The Owner: Christoph Noeckel

Christoph Pic

Can you give us a brief history of your store:

The store opened in 2006 in the inner city of Cologne. There hadn’t been a shop for a long period of time in Cologne so we gave it a go and recently moved to a new location in the south part of the inner city.

What type of riders are part of your community and what makes your community so special?

In general, there are all kinds of riders in our community and that makes it so special. You get the young kids just starting and the old school guys and, basically, every type of rider in between.

What’s your favorite BMX video?

Probably Monsters Below part from Above Below because its always motivating and describes BMX the best to people that are not into bikes.

Who is your favourite BMX filmer?

Anton Arens without question because with him behind the lens you just get everything done properly and with a well-thought-through concept.

Tell us what's good about your local scene:

We don’t really have a scene in my hometown just me and a homie I started riding with and a few kids with good potential. Everyone else quit riding over the years.

What’s your favourite BMX page on Instagram?

Nothing in particular at the moment I like the posts of Jack Miller or the 22crew a lot. Adrian Warnken my Berlin Homie, yannik, aka sccusii, is a good one too.

What's your Instagram? @oskirrrbikes

Devon Smillie – Dans comp Roll Call and Part Big Boom Bongers

Who is your favourite BMX filmer?

Marcus Brückner. Magician in post-production and one of the most underrated filmers.

Tell us what's good about your local scene:

Couldn’t be more stoked to have so many good people here that are all riding insanely in a different way. All of them are the nicest dudes and gnarliest riders I have met!

What’s your favourite BMX video?

It changes every single time when something new drops but currently it’s Kilian Roth’s latest video for Vans. Its crazy how he sees street spots. Riding spots every other single rider would pass by.

Who is your favorite BMX filmer?

I love the new way BMX videos get a more ‘cinematic’ style like Felix Prangenberg latest video Lärm with Anton Arens. So I would choose him.

Tell us whats good about your local scene:

Everybody is super motivated to go out and film something. On and off bike you have the best peeps over here to have a good time. Also, a good addition is that every single time you wanna go out and ride you will nearly never ride alone.

What's your favourite BMX page on Instagram? Definitely @digbmx

What's your Instagram name? @tom_weikert

What’s your favourite BMX video?

There are just way too many! Just to mention a few I’ll go with Joris Coulomb - Balance by Antoine Soubarin, Julian Arteaga - Sunday Bikes x Common Crew Video Part 2017 by Sauce and Ty Morrow - No Bicycles by Tony Ennis.

I feel like I connect best to the vibe of a video when the connection between filmer and rider shows well and there is some sort of visual key. In all these it’s an organic blend of riding, filming, music and editing. These parts are a great example of all these aspects while showing very different styles. As long as there is a consistent visual approach that compliments the rider I’m going to enjoy watching it.

Who is your favorite BMX filmer?

Again, too many to just name one. Rich Forne, Peter Adam, Tony Ennis, Grant Castelluzzo and Alex Valentino all have their own ways of how to show BMX. Whenever one of these names comes up, it’s a must watch for me.

Tell us what’s good about your local scene:

Cologne, to me, feels like the BMX capital of Germany in many ways. There are so many capable riders, a big store, BMX industry, filmers, parks and great spots. It feels like we have 15 small interconnected scenes instead of one big scene though. You can ride your bike by yourself or have a session with 20 people depending on what you want. There is usually someone down to

film or shoot a photo but you can also just enjoy a plaza session with your friends.

What’s your favorite BMX page on Instagram?

At the moment, I instantly think of @motobunka. I’m not the biggest fan of IG in general but seeing a scene explode, like in Japan, is sick to see. I’ve found a couple amazing riders, videos and art in general through that page.
