Meet The Owner: Makis Papadopoulos
Can you give us a brief history of your store:
The store has been rider owned and operated since 2008. RideOn is the largest BMX shop in Greece with the highest level of branding, experience, dedication and service for the BMX Community. The store is Located in the Center of Thessaloniki and our second Store opened in 2013 in Athens. We sell the best brands in the game along with Vans, Dickies, etc. RideOn has been one of the stores that put together team trips and organizes BMX events and contests to always keep the community up to date. Our shop is not a typical bicycle shop but a real boutique for every BMX rider. At RideOn stores you can find everything you need such as parts, bicycles, streetwear clothing, shoes & accessories, with a plethora of colors, styles and stock items.
What type of riders are part of your community and what makes your community so special?
Our riders are mostly street riders and two of them are ramp riders. Eight male riders and one female rider. Our girl rides street and we’re very happy with her. We keep it real and we dedicate ourselves only to our plans and we don’t stay to small talk. We’ve never been against any other shops… we’ve always competed with ourselves - setting the bar higher every year!!

Overall I’ll go with Dave Waston’s Shola part. It still gives me the chills and motivates me to ride, just solid street riding.

Tell us what’s good about your local scene:

Fav BMX video is Nathan Williams' ''Why Not?'' because why not?
Who is your favourite BMX filmer?
Fav filmer is Peter Adam because he makes the viewer understand the feel of the spot.
Tell us what’s good about your local scene:
The good thing about my local scene is that despite the poverty that pushes everyone to work 12-hour jobs, we manage to find time to ride and progress. Also, the level of riding is very high considering the lack of spots (literally one outdoor skatepark in the capital of Greece).

Rich Forne is my favorite filmer. I love his style of filming, he has a unique style and whatever he captures can be a masterpiece. I hope I can film with him one day.
Tell us what’s good about your local scene:
I would say that recently our local scene is fading out; not so many kids wanna ride these days, or if they do, they just want to ride skateparks or give up because of the lack of parks. I hope this will change in the future. We have a ton of amazing street spots and many more that are still hidden.
What’s your favourite BMX page on Instagram? My favorite Instagram page is Our BMX (@bmx) and DIG BMX (@digbmx). I like both of these equally and I support them 100%.
